Day Seven Twitter/Facebook Free!

Top 10 Things that are WORSE than Fasting from Social Media
(Bet you didn't think there could be 10 things worse than spending every waking hour away from the two best websites ever invented!)

10. My neighbors dog. He barks...and barks...and barks. 7am? Yep, still barking! 10pm? Why yes, that is the neighbors dog barking! Fancy that!

9. Mushrooms. AKA Fungus. Why do people eat fungus?

8. Query Wars!!! Need I say more?

7. Cleaning. (Which doubly sucks when you are fasting from twitter and facebook because it is the only thing left to do most days...so not cool!)

6. Packing. We are moving next month and I have to start packing. I hate packing.

5. Moving. Lifting heavy things should be banned. I'm little. I'm not very strong. I do not lift heavy things! Alright who wants to teach me the spell for moving my stuff without actually lifting ANYTHING? Anyone?

4. Diets! Though I do agree that Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels...I still really like ice cream and cheese fries.

3. Screaming children. ALMOST as bad as the neighbors dog barking, but the screaming usually lasts only 5 % of the time that the barking.

2. Waiting. I'm really not a huge fan of waiting. I'd like to think I'm a rather patient person, but yeah, I'm not even close! I really want to be moved into my new house, have an agent and a published book NOW!!!

1. Brain mush. My brain is complete mush right now. I want to write, but I'm not feeling the love for any of my new ideas. Thus mush. Brain mush is by far the worse thing in the world.

So there you have it. There are indeed 10 things worse than staying away from my favorite websites. (And/Or I'm really just trying to make myself feel better. It's kinda up in the air!)

Hey Marybeth! Missing you on Twitter these days, but I totally admire your fast. I'm sure once you get into the thick of moving you won't have much time for anything!

Just found your blog and have to admit that I'm highly entertained by your list!

Good luck with your social media hiatus...not sure I would last. As for moving..I swore never to do it again after the moving 3 times in one year...SO NOT my favorite thing either!

In regard to waiting, I've always tended to be a fairly patient person. I don't like idly waiting for something when I have other things I'd like to be doing--like waiting at DMV and having to wait because of disorganization and incompetance.
But especially as I get older I see a value in waiting for long range expectations. It becomes a motivation for living. The vibrant active older people I know seem to always have future plans set up that they look forward to and it seems to keep them more energetic, postive, and happy with their lives. Waiting is good when it's hopeful.

Dude, you nailed it! All of those are worse than not being on facebook. Especially the dieting one. Or the moving one. Or the fungus. I despise fungus. :)

That cartoon is hilarious. My dog barks a lot and I go outside and yell at him every time he does. I hate incessantly barking dogs.

You poor dear. I'll dig around to see if I can locate that moving spell. Wouldn't it be nifty if you could just wave your wand and all your stuff would just move itself to your new house?

And yes, I love love love fried mushrooms with ranch dressing. Here in the South we have to eat what God supplies or we starve.

OR

Make that infernal trek to Wal-Mart and brave the crazies for some grubbage. I'll stick with the mushrooms thank you very much.

Miss you on Twitter!

I would definitely put waiting and moving at the top of the list.

While you're fasting FB and T, I'm just jumping in! I'm going through all the blogs I follow and if they twit or facebook, they're hearing from me.

Hi there! Just found your blog through "Mom Blogs." I gave up Facebook, is that what you did? (I haven't scrolled through your older posts yet to find out.)

So far, I'm surviving, but I'm really wanting to know what all my FB peeps are up to! Argh!
