Indecisive Much?

Favorite Scene from The Jungle Book

This is the exact scene that goes on between my husband and I while choosing dinner, evening plans, movies, etc.

We are two of the most indecisive people alive. I had hoped having children would spare us some decision making, especially when it comes to dinner plans.

UNFORTUNATELY the conversation usually ends up like this.

Husband: So um, what's for dinner?

Me: I don't know, what do you want for dinner.

Husband: I don't know, what do you want for dinner.

Me: I don't know, maybe we should ask the kids.

Daughter: I know! Let's go to McDonalds! They have the tiny beanie toys!

Oldest Son: No! We always go to McDonalds. Besides, Burger King has G I Joe toys!

Husband and I Together: We aren't going to a restaurant!

Me: What do you guys want me to MAKE for dinner.

Youngest Son: I want Peanut Butter and Jelly!

Daughter and Oldest Son: NOOOOOO! We had that for lunch.

Sighs echo throughout the room as I turn back to the husband.

Me: So....what are we going to have for dinner!

And the process repeats itself.

I think God thought he was being humorous when he decided to make us a couple. He sure has no shortage of Snarkasm!

This happens in our house a lot! Dave and I are terribly indecisive and always want the other one to make the decision. We (when I say we I mean mostly me) sit down once every two weeks and make a menu list, go grocery shopping and then choose from those plans throughout the 2 weeks. It makes it a little easier.

We're completely unable to make decisions too... it's horrible.

"What do you want to do?
"I don't know, what do you want to do?
"I asked you first."
"Well, what do you want to do?"

And on and on and on.....ugh. What a life.

Amanda I did that too for a couple cycles and it worked SOOOO nicely. I don't know why I stopped. Possibly because I was always stuck with choosing 2 weeks worth of meals all on my own! That's rough for an indecisive like me!

I'm so with you Jess. It's horrible when we don't have the kids trying to figure out what to do. I can't imagine having to do that EVERY weekend! One of the blessings of having children...there really isn't much to decide on...Park, Chuckie Cheese, Museum...stay home cuz it's free! Oh we have a winner! Free always wins LOL

Me and my H are the same way. I blame that very thing for the state of our home. We need to make some improvements and it paralyzes us!

At least you're willing to make dinner. My convo goes like this:

DH: What's for dinner?

Me: Dinner? I wasn't planning on making dinner.

DH: Sighs.

Me: Do you want me to make you a sandwich?

DH: No, I can make myself something.

Kids: What's for dinner?

DH: Mom's not making dinner.

Kids: Cheering - Can we have cold cereal.

Me: Fine by me.

ROTFL!

Bahahahahaha! I've only seen that movie once many, many, many years ago. That scene is hilarious. And I can visualize the one in your house. Too funny!

I completely forget that scene in the movie. I am going to have to show that to my teen. That is her personality to a tee!

We play that same banter every day for dinner, lunch you name it. Thankfully since I am such a strong personality, it doesn't go very far.

Perhaps that is why no one asks me!

And I thought my husband and I were the most indecisive people in the world!

It's amazing we ever decided to get married, considering how hard it is for us to decide on anything. :)

This is why hubby and I have so many frozen pizzas. We have the hardest time deciding on dinner. Frozen pizza is a great fallback. :)

When my sister was dating her now-husband, they were both very indecisive. She hated that he wouldn't ever just come up with something for them to do on dates. One time he came to pick her up and they started the "What do you want to do? - I don't know, what do you want to do" conversation again, when she said, "OK, I'll pick. I want to stay here and watch TV." He picked somewhere to go immediately.

Maybe the next time you and your husband are trying to think of what to make for dinner, you should suggest liver and onions and creamed brussel sprouts.

The most requested dish in my house is "anything", but that is also the one that is left untasted more often than any other.
