I've been sucked in ... again ...

So I've been sucked in again. If you've been reading my blog for awhile you may have noticed that I kinda like the Harry Potter and Twilight series.

It's no big deal ... it's not like I am obsessed with them or anything. Reading a book series 4 or 5 times is perfectly natural. People do it all the time.

And who wouldn't want to carry around an action figure of their favorite book character?

However -yet again - I have found a new series that I have been unable to put down. The characters are fantastic and the story is wonderful. Now I realize that this story is meant for a slightly younger audience (middle grade) I am absolutely in love with it.

Let me introduce to you Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The story is about a young boy who discovers he is half god half mortal. He battles all sorts of mythical creatures (Greek Mythology types) and has to prove himself as a hero.

So I'm going to have to cut this post short so I can go finish reading.

My kids (10 and 13) read the Lightening Thief series and loved them. I haven't read them myself because they basically told me everything before I got a chance to read them.

Judging from the list above, I suggest you look into the Tapestry Series beginning with the Hound of Rowan. We all loved them (even the husband).

I will say the first page or two I found the writing a bit off, but it either got better quickly or I just got sucked in. So, stick with it through the first chapter.

I LOVED the second book even more-The Second Siege. It ranked right up there with HP for me. The third is do out this month and we are all already arguing over who gets to read it first.

Marybeth,

If I am not mistaken, I believe that they are making a movie of this either due out this winter or early next year.

My son LOVES these books.

And Rick Riordan seems to be one of the nicest guys out there. He does things for library programs, reaches out to kids....I'm very impressed with him as an author.

Like you, I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, the Twilight Series, and Percy Jackson. Aren't they great??

I picked up the first book in the 39 Clues series because it was written by Rick Riordan -- also a great series, you know, for the "kids". :)
