Getting Pretty FAIL

I have an obsession with the best make up store ever! Ulta is like a little piece of heaven on earth.

I was shopping for new foundation one afternoon after deciding maybe I needed a break from the whole powder world. I spotted some Skin Matching make up and thought it looked interesting enough. Why not try it!

Skin Matching foundation is a "Weightless foundation that goes on white and self-adjusts to match your exact skin tone. In 5 shades with a flawless finish."

I go to put it on the next day and start rubbing it in.....

When I was finished, I looked like this...

(...without the green hair and white eyebrows of course...oh and I didn't really have a manly face. That would be some REALLY interesting make up!)

Last I looked, without make up on....not so orange. Skin match FAIL!

The best part is...this is the ad!

Why yes...that was DEFINITELY Beyond Natural!

Reason #87 why I don't wear makeup...

Can you return it?

CKHB...bought it while in my home town. No Ultas where I live. Sigh...

Thanks Natalie! Loving your blog as well :D

Oh no! Okay, I've been out of foundation for about 3 months now and was about to go buy some at the drugstore. Guess I'll head to the Clinique counter, instead!

I <3 Ulta! I'll stick with my Bare Minerals and not purchase any perfect shade matching products.

I tried the very same product and got the VERY SAME results. I was phosphorescent! Completely ridiculous. I had absolutely no desire to make myself look like a sunless tanner victim, thank you! Needless to say, I never used it again.

From what I've heard, however, that's more likely to happen with those types of foundations if the base color you choose is too dark. For example, I'm usually a "medium" skin tone when it comes to makeup, but apparently this line runs dark... I was too wary to try the "light" version, so I have no proof to back that up. heh
